Onto the music.
In "Bees, Their Vision and Language" we're told of a science experiment designed to discover if Bees can detect color. "The Go From Tactical" deals with equally technical subject material, albeit in a more low-key way. The lyrics in both have the potential to make the songs awkward, a nerd's experiment with guitar-based music gone horribly wrong (at least there are no synths involved). But it works, with jangling guitars, interesting vocal arrangements, even some handclaps. I'm hooked (and they're playing Iota in September! Why not August?), plus some more dates elsewhere.

While I was in Arlington last week I picked up a copy of The Beanstalk Library's promo cd at CD Cellar, and have been enjoying it a great deal. It's catchy, and fun - America at Night is their debut. They're playing DC9 on Sept 11 with the Winter Sounds.
