Popalicious is a word

...and The Sinister Turns fits the description. They describe their music as sort of Sylvia Plath on pop rocks, but I'd change that to happy singing pills. Think the Eames Era or a female version of Voxtrot, maybe. They're based out of Cambridge, MA where another band bloggers love got their start...

"I Support Women In Science Tells" the tale of a girl's struggle with teachers and mathematics, and is incredibly endearing, with a little chorus of "wah-wo-wo."
"While the other 7-year olds played
hop-scotch, and dolls, and jump rope skip
but Peter and I were doing battleship
and the long division wasn't hip
and let me carry away on a guilt trip"
You get the idea. And the song is as catchy as hell. Turn to the Left, their debut EP, was released in 2006, but currently the only way to get it is to either (A) e-mail the band at thesinisterturns@gmail.com and have them mail it to you or (B) see them live. Their website has some more downloads. If you're in Massachusetts, they're playing at Harper's Ferry on October 14th.

I should mention that they've been suffering from low amounts of blog-love so far, so other bloggers who read this...***hint hint wink wink***
