Kind of neat, right?

Like Joe, I'm in the middle of finals, which is why the posts have recently been few and far between.
I was outside earlier today, and it was snowing so you could barely see past a block, and the wind was blowing hard. I have a paper to write, an exam to take, and a portfolio to perfect.

Oliver Future - Whispery Wintry Wind

For your enjoyment, here's a video my friend Nick showed me the other day...

Wilco - When You Wake Up Feeling Old [highly rec'd!]

The Wombats "Moving To New York"

Remember the excellent video for "Let's Dance to Joy Division"? Well, I like this new one too...especially how Matthew Murphy talks to his hampster.

A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation
was released on November 7th, and the single for "Moving to New York" is due out on January 14th. The band will be touring the UK through December.

Rilo Kiley "Silver Lining" music video

Seeing how this song is my personal "Silver Lining" to an otherwise much-hated (by me) album, I thought I'd post the video. Bittersweet.

Here's the part where you snicker in my general direction.

My aforementioned shameful teenage love of the Starting Line has come back to haunt me.

The Starting Line - Island (Direction)
The Starting Line - Best of Me (Say It Like You Mean It)

Some other music with which I'm having similar problems:
Yellowcard - The Takedown
Dashboard Confessional - Thick As Thieves

What an awful title for a post. I'm so glad I came up with it.

Okkervil River "Our Life Is Not A Movie or Maybe"

I know I haven't done a very good job blogging about Okkervil River's newest album, The Stage Names (released August 7th), but that doesn't mean I haven't been digging it.
Okkervil River - Unless It's Kicks [highly rec'd]

I posted about the Wombats' upcoming single for "Let's Dance To Joy Division" two days ago, but I didn't realize there was already a music video for it.

On repeat: Two Hours Traffic

The fact that I posted about a single song ("Heroes of the Sidewalk") from their newest album, Little Jabs (released July 24th), two weeks ago doesn't do justice to the fact that I've been listening to this band over and over and over and over and over and over...well, you get the idea. I'm addicted! It's the Canadian conspiracy all over again (which is, of course, to make amazing music and overwhelm our American ears).

Two Hours Traffic "Jezebel" - the music video is funny in a cheesy way.

The Eames Era - "When you were a Millionare" music video

Thanks to Jonathan for e-mailing me about the video. It's cute, but a little weird.

Happy Birthday Stuart Murdoch!

I'm not sure I can top last year's post in honor of Stuart Murdoch's birthday, but I have some ideas. Not that they'll happen today.

Brain dead with Manu Chao

Somehow I managed to get absolutely no sleep last night and will probably remain completely brain dead for the rest of the day. I did manage to read Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows for the third time between 6 and 11 a.m. this morning, though.

A friend showed me this video a few days ago - it's kind of hilarious and I'd never heard of Manu Chao before.

Manu Chao - "Me Gustas Tu"

Maybe some more coffee or mate will do the trick?

Andrew Bird "Imitosis" Music Video

Thanks to the Music Slut for the heads-up.

P.S. - the new Jose Gonzalez video for "Killing for Love" is even creepier than the one for "Down the Line." Ewww.

new White Stripes music video

I use the word "new" loosely, this video for "You Don't Know What Love Is (Just Do As You're Told)" was posted two days ago. Despite my ongoing mockery of the White Stripes (I get a lot of crap for it too), I kind of like the music video.

The White Stripes - You Don't Know What Love Is (Just Do As You're Told)

I'm going to use this as an excuse to post another favorite music video:
Matt Costa - "Sunshine"

Video Parade: The Black Keys + Patrick Watson

Thanks to I Rock Cleveland for referring me to this music video for The Black Keys song, "Just Got to Be". I don't think I could have put it better than Bill did: "If the Black Keys rock an empty room and no one hears it, are they still rockin'?"

The Black Keys - Do the Rump
If you don't know by now, the Black Keys are the closest thing to a musical reincarnation of Fats Domino out there today. If you don't know who Fats Domino is then, kid, you need to study yourself some old school Rock & Roll. Got that?
Fats Domino - The Fat Man

Patrick Watson's also got a new music video out for "Luscious Life."
