So, here goes...
The Rawking Refuses to Stop! puts up the video footage of the last concert the Beatles ever played, on a rooftop (from Let It Be, the documentary). The Beatles began their career touring German bars, and when they came to the U.S. they were overwhelmed playing packed concert halls where they could barely hear themselves play - the rooftop concert was a way of avoiding all this. I was reminded of a post I Am Fuel, You Are Friends put up a few weeks ago on Bob Dylan's Newport Folk Festival electric guitar bonanza, which you really should read as well.
I have a theory about Obscure Sound, and it goes something like this: any band that Mike is willing to write his typical four paragraphs about must be pretty friggin' good.
Jason (my guest contributor) got his thunder on indie artists with beards stolen by the Duke at the Late Greats. Sorry Jason, no beard post for you.
Everybody Cares, Everybody Understands posted a video of Bishop Allen's show in Toronto in June, which you should watch if you've never seen Justin Rice's adorable dancing.
Haha. Song, By Toad admits he (like every other blogger, myself included) posts about "sensitive, introspective, subtle and slightly eccentric" music, and so he posts some music that rocks loud, hard, and furious instead.
Scissors Happy gives out prizes to the bands at Lollapalooza. Example: "Best underestimation by festival planners as to how many people will go see this band on a small stage: cold war kids"
Goodnight and good luck, suckas!
