I decided I'm ready for Summer, and so here's the mix:
Belle and Sebastian - I Know Where the Summer Goes
...quite possibly one of the most underrated Belle and Sebastian songs of all time, and including some of my favorite lyrics (see the title of the post)
Belle and Sebastian - A Summer Wasting
...interestingly enough, I think of this song as a different musical/writing approach to the same material as in "I Know Where the Summer Goes." But it's more fun, melodically and rhythmically-wise.
Matt Pond PA - Summer is Coming
Bright Eyes - June on the West Coast
...about longing to settle down and rest during the summer...one of my favorite Bright Eyes songs
Carbon Leaf - Summer Song
...this song, with its mention of a hurricane, and "What went wrong?" would have been perfect for Hurricane Katrina last year
***Islands - Jogging Gorgeous Summer***
...manages to capture the feel of vacationing endlessly on a tropical island...ISLANDS!!!

Dashboard Confessional - Summer Kiss
...this song is the quintessential summer romance song, with all the emoness of Dashboard Confessional thrown in
The Lovin' Spoonful - Summer in the City
...this WILL describe DC in July and August when we go on 100-degree streaks
Death Cab For Cutie - Summer Skin
Death Cab For Cutie - Photobooth
...about romances that only last for the summer, but provides a nice old death cab vs. new death cab contrast..."photobooth" being the older song
***The Decemberists - July, July!***
...one of my favorite Decemberists' songs and I'm at a loss for words because I love it so much...How can you not love a song with lines like: "There is a road that meets the road that goes to my house....." & "I say your uncle was a crooked French Canadian..." ...Listen and it will all become clear
Josh Rouse - Summertime
= "cigarettes, tube socks, sunburns, and long blond hair"??? Just check out Josh Rouse...maybe another song first
