Normally I spend a lot of time madly searching for posting material, because as you've probably figured out, I don't like posting about up-and-coming bands because it takes me ages to figure out whether, how, and why I like the music I do. I'll like the sound of a band without really liking any one song very much, or I'll like some random aspect of a band, but not the band in general, or I'll like one particular song. It's painful, and really, most of the time I'd really rather listen to Beulah than to Beirut and Iron & Wine instead of the National. There's a REASON people have heard of some bands and not others. This, in sum, is the reason that I will rarely post about unknown bands...unless, of course, I've seen them live...which almost always guarantees I'll be more excited about them.
Meanwhile, back to the posting.
Camera Obscura & Georgie James are on tour and coming to the Black Cat on July 9th, and I'm horribly excited. For those of you who don't know, Georgie James is former Q & Not U member John Davis and Laura Burhenn and Camera Obscura is one of the big three Scots (my 3 favorite Scottish Bands...and I have a very deep affinity for Scottish bands - think about the Belle and Sebastian obsession)
