Beat Radio is another one of those bloggy bands (like the Sheds) who are awesome enough to make all their music available online; I first wrote about them in May."What I Love the Most" is at its core about confusion and not belonging, where comfort is found in finding "a place where we can be alone." Quoting Robert Frost, a poet who claimed to be most sure of himself when no one was around (think "Into My Own"), doesn't hurt Beat Radio's case.
Musically, Beat Radio is folksy and electronica-like (without actually being electronic, it's the quick finger-picking that does it) and lo-fi and sweet all at the same time. I'm gushing a little bit here, but I think they deserve it. Every time Beat Radio pops up on my mp3 player when I have it on random play I get this big goofy smile on my face and try to cover it up before anyone notices.
They're having their CD release show at Union Hall in Brooklyn, NY on August 11th, more info here.

"Ancient as the stars, no. 2" is as sweet as the name suggests, making me think of summer breezes blowing through the window and the first time I held hands with a boy I liked. Think of it as the folksy soundtrack to your post-modern desperation, you dreamer, you. "People are talking" is newer, and a bit more distracted, but still lovely.
