Bright Eyes! and other things...

I saw Bright Eyes in concert at Constitution Hall a little over week ago, and Conor Oberst was AMAZING. He has the hugest back-up band ever. I think he might be better in concert than on album, but, whatever the case, he sounds a lot less whiny in concert. I find the whiny-ness charming, but I know a lot of people would disagree. He played with Feist, who’s not exactly my type of music. Still, after watching her in concert, I have to admit that she has a truly amazing voice. The Magic Numbers were good too - check them out! Also, Rilo Kiley randomly showed up during Feist's portion of the concert, and her and Conor Oberst were onstage dancing and singing along.
I’m personally convinced Conor Oberst should record books on tape so I can listen to his voice, which is really cute. My favorite moment of the concert may have been when this guy yells out to Conor, "I want to have your babies!" and Oberst pauses, looks a tad bit overwhelmed, and quietly says into the microphone, "I fear that’s not possible," in his very distinctive voice. If only NPR had chosen to record that concert; I could listen to it over and over and over again.

The following day, Saturday, I saw Much Ado About Nothing at the Folger Theater, which was pretty awesome, but it was similar enough to our production (same time period, though theirs took place in England) that I spent most of the play comparing our acting/directing choices to theirs. Oh well.

I should say: Harry Potter stunk. Seriously. They took out all the funny parts of the book, changed the plot in several places, and turned it into an action movie. GRRR. Mugglenet has reviews.

Belle and Sebastian have a new album coming out in Febuary called "The Life Pursuit"!!! And they should be announcing a U.S. Tour in the near future!!!! Whooopy!!!!

NPR's music director recently gave a list of his "director's cuts". Check it out.
National Solo Album Month. Awesomeness!

I'd discuss the news, but I just go back from 4 days with no internet or newspapers, so I'm catching up.
